coming back home
This was some weekend. The kiddos stayed with me Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday I dropped them off with Dana and as I was about to head out on 20 mile bike ride, Dana asked to talk. She wanted me to come home. My response, “of course I will.”
I came home and told my folks. They were beaming with joy, but also still concerned and want to help us out any way possible. My parents have been amazing throughout this. I’m sure I’ll need help going forward. Her granny sounded close to tears of happiness on the phone. Her mother was really happy too.
We have work to do no doubt, but I know what we’re capable of. Love is the answer. The kids are nutzo crazy happy to have daddy back home. Nights of getting stories in their own beds. Waking up in the morning and climbing in between us getting major snuggles. I got to have coffee with Dana again and kiss her goodbye when I went to work. We watched some horrible reality TV while she put her head on my chest. Simple stuff, but it means a lot.
Oh and I did the 20 mile ride, which was a slight milestone towards the ride to the shore (which is approximately 55 miles). It was a gray day, but I was so happy with the reunion , I really enjoyed seeing all the horses out in Shamong. I stopped by to tell my friends Doug and Dani the good news. I scared the shit out of a horse that was next to the railing by the dirt road, he was really into his hay or something I guess. It was actually a horse on Keith Jones’ farm in Shamong (Jonesy lives on the same road as my friends Doug and Dani).

stay away from my horses man and my corn eh
I’ve got some work to do tonight on some side stuff – Wheelies needs updates since the holidays and the .NET site needs more testing.
The Swedish word of the day is skitkul, which according to my Swedish buddy Lars, means “really happy” or literally translated : “crap happy fun”.

This is really great, man, I am so happy to hear that this is happening. As I mentioned earlier … I’m cautiously optimistic. Just don’t take any crap
I’m glad you got to ride. I haven’t in a while now, and it’s driving me crazy. I am hoping to ride some this weekend. I definitely need to do some longer rides, about 15 miles is the longest road ride I’ve done recently, and I could go a lot further.
Speaking of which, did you ever post a photo of your bike? I’d like to see it.

I am so happy for you. See? 2007 is going to be a great year for both of us with our marriages.

Wow. I’m really happy for you. I still abide by my mom’s belief: pray for the best, expect the worst. I guess just Michael’s cautious optimism
I hope that both of you have the same realization that Michael and I have when life is shitty — that we are both very lucky to have each other and that we are infinitely better, stronger, happier people together than we could ever be apart. Here’s to a fresh start. You definitely deserve all that is good in life, Mr. Family Man.

Wonderful! I don’t know the whole backstory here (how long you have been apart) but I love when couples work it out… sounds like your 2007 is going to be just fine.

Yay for you!!

That’s awesome Van! I’m glad to hear you’re back where you belong… with your family. Cheers mate!

Great news, Van – I hope that you guys are able to work everything out. What a great way to start off 2007 (and assuage the pain of punting on 4th and 15).

Very happy for you, man. Twenty miles–that’s quite a feat.

I hope everything comes together for you and your wife and your family.

This is just spectacular news, Van! Yeah, you do have work to do. Pay attention and do it well. I’m delighted for all of you.

Congrats again. Oh, and I think I misled you a bit. Skitkul doesnt mean crap-happy, it means crap-fun. Oh well, close enough =)

I wondered if everything was okay because you were quieter than usual over the past few days.
I’m really, really happy for you. I have the best of intentions for you and Dana…you’re both in my thoughts.
(And may I suggest The (White) Rapper Show instead of I Love New York?)

lars – corrected.
mama – I’m not sure my cat will like that the same, I’ll run it by him

Congrats again. Oh, and I think I misled you a bit. Skitkul doesnt mean crap-happy, it means crap-fun. Oh well… It’s only when you want to emphasize how good something tastes that it gets really strange though

20 miles eh? That’s a damn good bike ride this time of year. I dream of getting out on my bike, but the weather has been very crappy here in Seattle lately. The snow is almost all gone now after invading us for a week.
