bad brains
I am so beat. Dana is nearly out of her migraine…and I hope the kids are being good today to help her do so. Friday night Dana went to a potluck dinner with some buddies and I watched the short people. After they got to bed, I did a couple hours of work on NitroVideo’s database which is driving me nutzo (to borrow a word from the Fonz), some more work on the legalhelpin24hrs.com website, and then some work on the Pyrexia
MySpace shop. Saturday, I woke with Bubba for t-ball practice only to realize that I had stupidly scheduled it a half hour before the season opening party (I’m filling in for Van’s coach while he’s on vacation). Which wasn’t a bad thing, me and my son had a catch in an empty field for a half hour. We headed back, picked up Viv and then went to Hopkins Field for some hot dogs, moonwalk bouncing, and playing with some buddies on the playground. My son’s team is the Blue Jays…thoughts of Joe Carter hitting the series winning home run off Mitch Williams made my Phillies fan brain shiver for a second.
Saturday night, Dana stayed home and slept trying to fight off the migraine some more. Me and the kids went to a co-worker of my mother’s house for dinner. They have a son Van’s age and we were celebrating my father completing his Captain’s license. Also it turns out that the wife is an insanely great cook. She made mojitos with fresh mint leaves, had this crazy spread of horderves – goat cheese stuffed peppers, spinach artichoke dip, some sort of bacon-sour cream dip she made from scratch, and other stuff that I could have easily filled up on. Her husband cautioned me, “pace yourself, dinner is the pay off.”
For dinner she had homemade gnocchi with marsala sauce, steak, roasted veggies, two different home made breads, …at this point, I’m thinking, “poor Dana is at home probably eating either Honey Combs or a baloney sandwich”. My mom brought the name and number of a headache specialist at Jefferson Hospital in Philly. We gotta get her some relief, this is like the fourth weekend in a row she’s been laid up with either a migraine or a cold.
Sunday I sorta took it easy, but I spent time working on that NitroVideo database, more Pyrexia work (I discovered that MySpace blocks all JavaScript thanks to all those worm attacks), finished the legalhelpin24hrs.com lead generator tool, finally finished Life of Pi, and started a book on PERL (some studying for the NitroVideo site). I just want to read to my son before bed, tell Viv a princess story and help her get to bed, and then relax with my wife. My brain really wants to turn off badly.

That dinner sounds delicious. I’ve always wanted to try making gnocchi, but my great-grandma had this weird recipe involving a broom handle. That kinda freaks me out.
Hope Dana starts feeling better soon.

Poor Dana!!!! I can’t believe how sick she has been! Hopefully the new doctor will help her!
I make gnocchi, and everyone says it is really good. I think it tastes/feels sort of mushy, but I still make it for other people.

I messed up my brain a bit doing my taxes, but otherwise had a good weekend. Still, I really could’ve used a day off today. But you did a lot more than I did … I hope that you are able to catch a breather at some point, and that Dana feels better soon.

Sarah – the gnocchi was mushy AND delicious. I didn’t notice a broom handle in the kitchen, but then again, I wasn’t really lookin for a gnocchi broom handle…
tori – I know, I hope this new doc has some sort of voodoo or something to make those stinkin’ headaches go away
apertome – I totally breathed this morning… a few times actually, but then I got back to work
Craig – I know, I know.
V-Grrrl – me too, she seemed to be feeling better this morning, let’s pray the kids have been good
mamatulip – and each time Joe’s feet landed on the ground it was like he was stomping on my heart

Oh, poor Dana. As a migraine sufferer, I can completely sympathize. She needs better drugs!
