Saw IV : Curly Howard as Jigsaw?
On my way home, I stopped at Barnes and Noble and got a bunch of books for the kids. Two Mo Willems (a Pigeon one and an Elephant and Piggie one) books for Viv, two (one about tadpoles and one about dinosaurs) books for Bubs, and a Ratatouille book for them to share (hopefully). I can’t wait to have both of them with their little noggins on my chest while we read all of these books together.
I did a lot of side development work last night, but my head is hurting too much and no one understands what I’m talking about any way, so screw it…
The Phils hung in there last night against the Mets and ended up winning
in extra frames with a walk-off bomb from my son Ryan Howard. I can’t wait to tell Bubs that his hitting tips paid off for the Phillies last night. Tonight, my buddy Doug is taking me to the game. This game is huge for both teams. The Mets have a 4 game lead and if only end up with a split in the 4 game series, we wouldn’t gain any ground with little time left in the season. 44 year old Jamie Moyer (11-10 5.16) takes the hill tonight against Oliver Perez (12-8 3.34). The pitching match-up doesn’t bode well for the Phils, but hopefully we can be patient at the plate and get into the Mets bullpen, which believe it or not, seems to be even worse than the Phils’.
Grace, my guitar student, is doing really well. I noticed right away that she has been practicing a lot. Her scales were really good and she was fretting the F major nice and strong. F’s and bar chords are tough on new hands.
After getting myself packed, I read a chapter of Wicked, did some of the previously mentioned side work, watched the Phils, and then put in Saw III. The third installment of this gruesome lineage was better than the second, but lacked the good storyline of the first. They say that if art illicits a response from the viewer, it is art. I guess a response besides “that sucked”. For Saw III, that response from the gore is all about making the sound Curly of the Three Stooges makes when he’s scared.
Yogi and I got our run in this morning and he’s a tired happy pup now. He’s going to have my mom coming to take care of him while I’m away this weekend. I’ll have to take him swimming Monday evening depending on what time I get home.

I love pictures of heterosexual guys making out. Nothing’s better!
When do you leave for your trip??

Open Grove Claudia – I’m going to beat any potential Mets fans to the punch here…what makes you think they’re heterosexual? Friday morning I’m heading down for Cuddlefest ’07

I am so excited for you — it’s going to be a great visit.
Thanks for the review of Saw III. We saw the first two, liked the first one a lot and didn’t care for the second one. I’ll have to put Saw III in our queue.

apertome – indeed, I can’t wait. on Saw III, I wouldn’t make the very next movie in your queue, but it’s worth watching and like you I thought the second one was weak especially compared to the first one.

Have you ever been inside a Barnes and Noble Furious? You do know that you have to pay for the books that you take out, right?

corky – oh…that probably explains why their librarians were so chase-y

I think the Phils are done for, but I still can’t help rooting for them, particularly with Utley back. MVP?
As for Saw III, I was disappointed with it. Of course, I’m almost always disappointed with horror sequels (and even more so with remakes, like they are doing with “Halloween”).

Marty – you’re right, the majority of horror sequels are pretty bad, actually the majority of sequels are pretty bad, with some obvious exceptions (Empire Strikes Back, Godfather II)

Only 2 more days to go! YAY for you!!!! I haven’t seen the SAW movies. I’m s scardey cat…and i’m not afraid to admit it. The closest I get to a horror movie is Blade or Resident Evil. Which if you’ve seen either, aren’t scary at all. I don’t do horror flicks. They scare the hall outta me. I have nightmares for weeks. Now that I’ve told you my life story….Have a great night!!!

April – well if you don’t like horror movies, the Saw movies are the absolute last movies you need to watch ever. How does one get the hall scared out of them tho? I think once a linen closet was scared out of me, but never an entire hall.

Time to start counting down to Friday morning!!!

Van, have a fabulous time with the kids! I’m so glad you are going to see them. Tell Van I said hi!

Oh come on, I like it when you include the geekspeak. It makes me feel like Im not geeky :p
Would you mind coming out here and teaching Thing One the guitar?

Those Mo Willems books are awesome. We just got A Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog and absolutely love it. The Boy loves it, too.
Dang. Those Phillies are really coming on …
August 30th, 2007 at 5:49 am
okay, so I made a typo…hell. I meant to say they scare the hell outta me. A linen closet huh??? That’s fairly interesting.

Chris – all systems go, t-minus 23 hours and 33 minutes
logo – ok, I’ll throw some PHP and .NET speak in the post next week for you, prepare for boredom. You know, I’m really enjoying teaching again, makes me consider seeking some more students. It also helps me practice my own fundamentals so I don’t look like a moron (too much)
dorky dad – Mo rules, get Knuffle Bunny at the library if you can, he’ll love that one too. Aye, the Fightin’s are looking good.
April – yeah I know. the towels weren’t so bad, but the old hangers did hurt a bit
