When I paint my masterpiece

I will be coating the exterior of my abode with 8 gallons of Behr Redwood Semi-transparent Stain (same color it is today) this weekend with my father. We will try to do it in an even fashion and not put all 8 gallons in the same spot. Pray for us.

Someday, everything is gonna be smooth like a rhapsody
When I paint my masterpiece.
Bob Dylan

Grace wasn’t feeling well last night and had to cancel her lesson, so I called up my Mom (who is sick and with her Addison’s disease, she can get weak pretty quickly) and brought over some Chinese take-out for dinner. It’s actually fortunate that I did that, because she was feeling dizzy and making dinner for herself and my grandfather (who lives with them) might have been tough for her.

I got home and turned on the Flyers-Devils game and got to work on the MySQL-SQL conversion process with SQLyog and worked on a PERL script for a new search tool for NitroVideo. SQLyog process finished sometime this morning (it’s really slow, but works great for migrating data).

The Flyers looked unbelievable last night. Marty Biron turned aside 38 shots to record his second shutout in as many games. I am really happy watching this team, they skate and the forwards do an excellent job of getting back to play D. Mike Richards has really elevated his game, adding to his totals for this year recording a goal and assist last night. Joffrey Lupul has been a real surprise, I knew he could skate, but had no idea what a great forechecker he actually turned out to be. I’m not so sure about the way he spells Jeffrey though.

The kids called me late last night and they were excited about their upcoming visit. Viv is especially happy to see Yogi, Ziggy, and Wugga Bugga. I can’t wait to read with them and play. At least for two and a half days, life will be grand.

I, of course, wasted no time this morning to rub some salt in the wounds of one of my co-worker buddies who happens to be a Devils fan…

I’m not sure which was my favorite Flyers goal last night..

Jim, which was your favorite Devils goal*?
*note : the Flyers won 4-0, there was no Devils goal…

After the game, I watched The Butterfly Effect. This was an OK average movie. It was entertaining, definitely longer than it needed to be, and one thing that bugged me (there’s always something)… in one incarnation, Ashton Kutcher doesn’t have the accent his girlfriend is used to (she comments about it), but later in the paraplegic incarnation his accent is different. Inconsistent, I declare.

Aside from the painting fun, I plan on working the new Nano in with a big run tonight and 20+ on the bike too. Somewhere in the weekend, I’m hoping to finish Confederacy of Dunces, finish off the PERL script, and do some last items for Marty.

WHOO, those Flyers are A LOT better than I expected. I don’t care if the Devils are on the down side, I ALWAYS enjoy kicking their ass!!!! Should be a tough one Saturday against Carolina, it will be a test to see where this team is, even though it is a loooooooooong season….

Good luck on the housework, I am attempting some of my own this weekend (fingers crossed). It’s great you have your Dad to lend a hand, my Dad always helps me out and it is a great bonding experience every time (well between the cursing we do when something inevitably goes wrong).

    Have a great weekend!

  2.  Franki Says:

    Oh. My. God.

Is that Hello Kitty gun for real?

  3.  furiousBall Says:

Mike D. – Carolina will be a very good test for sure. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of us utters the words, “you mean we weren’t supposed to paint over the windows?”

Franki – real as a real thing

  4.  Chris Says:

Gosh, it must not be raining there, eh? Sheesh – if it stopped raining now, it might dry enough by November to paint… and then it would be too cold!

  5.  furiousBall Says:

Chris – it’s raining today, but will be clearing up enough for painting Sat and Sun… I hope, otherwise, I’ll spend the entire weekend on the couch eating Funions….seriously.

  6.  Open Grove Claudia Says:

Have you thought about a sprayer for your stain? We used one that we bought at Home Depot (but you can rent a good one) to pain the ceiling in our basement and it was fabulous. It doesn’t work for primer – paint? stain? very cool.

I thought Butterfly effect was retarded. After years and years and years of working with people? The ONLY people I know who would go back and “fix” the past are the people who didn’t suffer very much. Everyone else? Yeah, not so much. Retarded movie. Ashton should stick to producing quality television like Beauty and the Geek.

I love Funions. We should party. It’s gonna snow here on Sunday.

  7.  furiousBall Says:

Open Grove Claudia – that’s what we’re doing, Dad has a sprayer and spray we shall. Funions and snow? You crazy.

  8.  mamatulip Says:

I felt the same way about The Butterfly Effect. Too long and inconsistant.

Hey — make sure you don’t wash and dry your new Ipod. Apparently they don’t like to work after you do that. Who knew?

  9.  furiousBall Says:

mamatulip – well how the heck am i supposed to clean it? oh…. the dishwasher!

  10.  Jay Says:

Aw, taking care of your mommy. What a good son you are.

I don’t envy you your painting job – hope you have nice weather for it.

  11.  logoâ„¢ Says:

Butterfly Effect is on the long list of movies I am completely indifferent about and will therefore never watch of my own volition (Titanic is also on that list).
Hope the painting plans go well, the Funion alternative is just… bleck.
Chinese take out with mom and grampa?
    THAT sounds good to me.
Hockey, huh? Is that the one with the round ball?
    :p

  12.  Open Grove Claudia Says:

Er… you’re just discovering I’m crazy. Sheez. Who else would be a therapist?? There’s even PSYCHO in the title!

  13.  furiousBall Says:

Jay – she gave birth to me, i figure after buying her some pork egg foo young we’re even now ;-)

logo – hockey is the good sport real men play

Open Grove Claudia – also, as Sean Connery pointed out in an SNL skit, therapist also spells the rapist

  14.  corky Says:

The Butterfly Affect is one of those movies that I find myself watching all the time. I don’t seek it out it seeks me out. Know what I mean?

  15.  Christy Says:

Hmm. My brother loved the Butterfly Effect movie but I couldn’t get passed seeing those children so horribly abused. I never was able to finish watching the movie.

  16.  furiousBall Says:

corky – here’s what you gotta do… go back in time and kick ashton in the nuts when he thinks about making this movie…actually, just go back and kick him in the nuts a lot.

Christy – yeah, the baby getting blown up was tough too. the idea was kinda cool, but i liked it better when the movie was called It’s a Wonderful Life, or Jacob’s Ladder, or Back to the Future… or any of the other 900 films that already did the time traveling premise to fix one’s life

  18.  Jocelyn Says:

I caught a faint whiff here of you not ballhooing Ashton Kutcher as The Actor of His Generation.

You’re just nutty that way, aren’t you?

  19.  dorky dad Says:

You have fun painting. I haven’t seen the Butterfly Effect and I’m not about to start.

I’ve given you an award by the way.

  20.  furiousBall Says:

Dyna Girl – that Bob guy ain’t half bad is he? if he keeps it up, he might do something one day ;-)

Jocelyn – next I will explain why John Stamos dreamy blue eyes and feathered coif could not save this full house of this generation’s crappy acting either

dorky dad – you rule everything, oh benevolent everything ruler

  21.  amusing Says:

I was hoping that “Amelie” would cause a sudden surge in availability of photobooths (black and white, preferably) — there is one at El Vez on 13th Street.

Bravo on the housepainting. I never got my act together, and now rationalize it’s not doable in this weather and temp.
