a paint brush in my dad’s butt crack

The house … she is a-painted. It took about 10 gallons of stain, 2 brushes, 4 rollers, 3 ladders, 3 tarps, some rags, a pressure washer, a paint sprayer, and around 10 hours total – but Dad and I did it. There’s some touch up I need to do after work today on the deck where we got a little over zealous (AKA being sloppy), but boy, it looks great. I feel as though I should knock on my neighbor’s doors and apologize for not doing this sooner.

Spending the time with Dad was great too. At one point while we were cleaning the brushes out with the house, he said something to me (probably about dripping paint or something). I took exception and then placed the wet brush and in his exposed plumber’s crack. He turned and sprayed me with the hose. Good times.

Sunday morning I read about Max McGee, the former Packers Receiver that caught the very first Super Bowl touchdown died from falling off his roof while cleaning his gutters. Later that same day, I was hanging over the side of my own roof to paint under the eaves. I had to lean over fairly far to do this and I got a reminder from my Nano to be careful … “I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend…” Jumper by Third Eye Blind. I scooted back a bit…

Dorky Dad bestowed some hardware upon me, a Blogging That Hits the Mark Award. That sure was nice there amigo. Staying on the topic of fellow blog buddies saying nice stuff about lil’ ole me… Frankily Yours posted something nice about me. Oh and I forgot, Indie Blue posted about me on Friday. I guess it means I’ve got some good buddies and the list for the “do not maul” list of my polar bear army is growing. Pretty soon there will be no one to maul and the polar bears will just slide around drinking coke.

Aside from the painting, I did get a nice long run in on Friday evening in the rain, worked on the NitroVideo search engine enhancements, did some more stuff on the Marty project, and finished A Confederacy of Dunces. I watched the following movies: The Conformist (terrible), The Fountain (not bad, anything with Rachel Weisz is decent automatically), and Amelie (awesome, hilarious – Audrey Tautou has one of the best smiles ever).

How about those 6 and 1 Flyers?!?!?!?

  2.  heart in San Francisco Says:

Looking good! I’m glad you didn’t fall off the roof.

Audrey Tautou is enchanting in the way of Audrey Hepburn. Amelie is one of my favorite movies, and it’s time to see it again. Thanks for the reminder.

  3.  mamatulip Says:

Damn, that looks good. Come and paint my living room.

  4.  Open Grove Claudia Says:

The house looks fabulous! Congratulations! And how cool to get a chance to enjoy your dad.

I do love Amelie. I love Paris too – so the combination is really wonderful.

  5.  Franki Says:

Amelie’s one of my all time faves.

Mike D. – thank God for the Flyers, otherwise there would be Philly sports fans lining up to jump off the Ben Franklin

heart in SF – i am also glad i didn’t fall off the roof too…i know i was enchanted.

mamatulip – ok but I don’t think I can use this power sprayer indoors…well, only one way to find out. tell julia and oliver to hold their breath…

Open Grove Claudia – thanks! that movie was great, definitely unexpected goodness

Franki – the alternative to staying busy is thinking and i hate that stuff lately.

Home sweet home. I read the article on your town–sounds like my kind of place. Pines, lakes, trails–does a grrrl good.

    Now all you need is a boat–and a pony. : )

  8.  furiousBall Says:

V-Grrrl – Lyle Lovett should write a song about that… a canoe is my goal for next summer for me and the kids… the pony… hmm, maybe later.

  9.  Craig D. Says:

Now how many google hits are you going to get for the phrase “my Dad’s butt crack?”

    Congrats on the project’s completion!

  10.  furiousBall Says:

Craig D. – are you saying I should look into some Google Adwords? hmm, not sure what kind of crowd I’d be driving to the site…

  11.  Christy Says:

Sounds like fun times painting. Your Dad is kind to have helped you. Even though you thanked him by not only putting a paint brush in his exposed “a-hem” but also blogging about it. =o)

  12.  furiousBall Says:

Christy – I want the worth to know that I love my Dad.

  13.  Lorrie Says:

Your house looks so nice. Very warm and inviting. I’m sure the kids will be so surprised.

I’m a little worried about your obsession with placing things in inappropriate places. I believe therapy could help.;)

  14.  tori Says:

That looks awesome! I bet you are sore now though!

  15.  furiousBall Says:

Lorrie – you watch it or you’ll have a paint brush where the sun don’t shine (i.e. New Jersey in about a month)

tori – thanks and yes, i feel like a posse of 8 year olds snuck into my bedroom and beat the ever-loving shit out of me with wiffle ball bats.

  16.  apertome Says:

Your house looks great my friend, good work.

Geez, I haven’t heard that song in ages. Third Eye Blind was always been something of a guilty pleasure for me, at least back when that album came out. I haven’t really kept up with their more recent stuff. It’s always weird when a song syncs up with what you’re doing like that.

I’ve had Amelie sitting on my shelf for a long time now and not yet watched it! I’m not sure what my problem is.

  17.  furiousBall Says:

apertome – thanks! 3EB is a guilty pleasure of mine too – totally pop stuff, but great guitar tones and decent parts. i was the same way, amelie sat in my stack for months and months, then i finally watched it. it’s great!

  18.  Chris Says:

Woot woot – congrats on having that house project done! Wanna come over and paint my bathroom next?

  19.  Marty Says:

Glad you didn’t go over the edge… you have to wonder about the timing of those lyrics at times…

I’ve heard good things repeatedly about “Amelie”, but I’ve never seen it. I have to get off my but and expand my horizons…
