holding steady

I got home and did some of the touch up (I still need to get the edges again) on the front and back porches. I sat down ate dinner while I fixed the new search tool for NitroVideo, put together a quick estimate for some small changes for SidneyK, and then worked on the conversion for Zeropercentcards.com.

After thoroughly geeking out, I called the kids and read a story to Van and a princess story to a sleepy little Viv. I watched Aeon Flux, which wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. My spidey senses were thinking Cat Woman level horribleness, but with the redeeming quality of Charlize Theron in tight outfits (much akin to Cat Woman with Halle Berry). But the special effects were decent and the if you ignored the dialog, it tweren’t that bad.

Tonight good buddy Doug and I are heading to the TLA in Philly to see The Hold Steady. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the TLA’s sound and The Hold Steady are a band that I really want to be able to hear everything, especially the vocals given the fantastic lyrics Mr. Finn pens.

“holly wore a string around her finger. she said it helps her to remember all the nites that we got over. besides, it ties her outfit all together. holly wore a string around her finger. there are strings attached to every single lover but still they can’t tether us together. listen to the back of the theater. i think they really love one another. there’s strings attached to every little lover.” ~Banging Camp

It’s been a while since I’ve been down on South Street, hopefully Doug and I can find some tasty vittles to eat before the show.

    Dumbledore Pride T shirts? LMAO!
My 11 year old was doing really well accepting gayness etc until now….I see her brow furrow as she tries to understand that Dumbledorf was a man that had a romantic life! It’s just not working for her.

Yup to those Hold Steady lyrics. Did you like the band?

I never made it to see Aeon Flux, but she does look good in that pic. Not as good as she looked in Monster however.

Try Jim’s if you want cheesesteaks…they are the best in Philly. Corner of 4th and South. I’ve become a cheesesteak snob since having one of Jim’s…haven’t had one from anywhere else.

    “thoroughly geeking out”

Should we start calling you Syndrome?

    I totally have a girl-crush on Charlize.

Have you ever seen the cartoon Aeon Flux? The chick in it was creepy. So I wasn’t too psyched when I heard they were making a movie out of it. But in the end I didn’t think it was half bad. MUCH better than Catwoman in fact.

That “How To Hug A Baby” link reminded me of those “Carl” books. Mariel loves ‘em.

  7.  Lorrie Says:

Who are you kidding? You were watching the movie just to see the girl. Can’t blame you there, she did some pretty spectacular stuff.

Isn’t Charlize HOT in that movie??

Can’t wait for a quick concert review from you! I love the TLA as a venue! But only if you get an up front or elevated seat.

Alyans at 603 South 4th Street, right off South, right around corner from TLA. Best Middle Eastern food in the world. Even better than in the Middle East, I swear.
