friends bearing gifts

Yesterday was better. I didn’t get much of an iChat with the kids, they both are not feeling well and the connection was a bit jumpy (well Viv was too). I did have a great guitar lesson with Grace (gave her two Green Day songs to practice). Grace’s Mom, aka Carolyn, was nice enough to bring me a piece of cherry pie she made and a pack of Ramen noodles.

After setting a new landspeed record for cherry pie devouring, I did a few updates to the Battleship New Jersey website, fired off an email for the merchant account review for Shopcurtainrods.com, and then tuned into the Green Bay – Dallas game. GoodBuddyDoug stopped by since he doesn’t get the NFL Network on his Comcast cable (and also I’m sure to see his best buddy) and he arrived bearing gifts (a six pack of Old Speckled Hen).

Doug had to head home early and feed his goats (not kidding – ah, kidding … goats. woo). I then chilled out and watched Beerfest (very silly, but no run at the Oscars for this one). I’m about halfway through Enemy at the Gates right now, I need to finish that this weekend and get through The Alphabet of Manliness before next Tuesday (when that book is due).

I’m home not feeling well today. I’m going to try and keep a fire going and get some rest.

Woe the Van – I hope a day of rest perks you right up!

  3.  Christy Says:

You can IM Santa? That is insane! Whatever happened to the good old fashioned writing a letter to Santa. Though I must say Brae didn’t get a response for the last two years…

Weekend is almost here – WOO HOO!!!!

  5.  flutter Says:

That game killed me. KILLED ME. Dude, I would so pay you to teach me how to play the gee-tar.

Franki – ain’t no party like a ramen party, cuz a ramen party don’t stop…

Chris – i finally have a decent fire going, my boss emailed me and from my death bed, made me schedule a SQL Job… argh

Christy – he just told me he’s ROTFLMAO at my request for a money to re-do my kitchen, that fat bastard

    Mike D – thanks bro

flutter – yeah, i can’t stand Dallas, especially growing up a Steelers and Eagles fan. The first lesson is the strum a chord and point at the audience whilst flicking your tongue… cause that’s how you announce you are ready to rock their souls off or out, i forget which

  7.  Chris Says:

    *forehead flicks Van’s boss*

  8.  Carolyn Says:

Glad you enjoyed the pie…I guess I need to make chicken noodle soup for you next. I can do that…open the can, pour it in the pot…

    Feel better!

  9.  furiousBall Says:

Chris – yes or something like this

Carolyn – wait, I think I saw that technique on the Iron Chef once…

  10.  liv Says:

devastated to hear of your compromised health. hope it is nothing that some well deserved rest won’t cure.

  11.  Maddy Says:

You are such a jammy dodger! [very lucky] People are always giving you things and sending you things. What’s your secret?

Hope you’re on the mend soon.
    Cheers

  12.  Jodi Says:

aren’t ramen noodles a cure-all? oh, was just for hangovers in college? i can’t remember.

    get better

  13.  furiousBall Says:

liv – there will be a telethon tonight to help

Maddy – i am going to use the phrase “jammy dodge” as much as possible now

Jodi – they’re 6 for a dollar is what they are

  14.  mamatulip Says:

I hope you feel better. You may have gotten sick from reading my blog. God knows we have enough germs around here to spare.

I’ve seen that accordion hero before and it totally cracked me up.

  15.  Lorrie Says:

sorry to hear that you’re fighting some bug.

Cherry pie! I wish I had friends like yours.

  16.  furiousBall Says:

mamatulip – it’s the weekend, plenty of resting available. i shall get down on it.

    Lorrie – Mrs. E rules

  17.  Open Grove Claudia Says:

We watched the game last night at NFL.com. It was a little weird but fun to watch anyway and free and non-tv.

I think it’s very hard to be in between here and there (Georgia for xmas). And really how does one make in-between a destination which it should be because you are there so long. It reminds me of the cure song “In-between days”.

I think you are tremendously courageous. I hope you stay warm. It’s freakin’ cold here – just warmed up to 28! whoo hoo! fuck.

  18.  Carolyn Says:

Wow, I should have started baking for you a long time ago. Any requests?

  19.  Mary Says:

You just had to mention the Greenbay – Dallas game, didn’t you…

We Wisconsinites have decided that the Pack actually meant to lose so that they could get the Cowboys egos all over inflated and balloon-like. That way we can beat the pants off of them the next time when they are so full of themselves they won’t know what hit them. It makes perfect sense. At least to us. It’s just the kind of Cheeseheaded conspiracy we love around here!

  20.  V-Grrrl Says:

I hate that Christmas song: “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!!!!”

    Because it’s not.

Because it’s dark and cold and when germs and depression reign.

Now don’t you feel better? All cheered up? Yeah, you’re right. Next time I’ll just send some soup or something over.

  21.  heart in San Francisco Says:

Is there any cherry pie left over?

    Feel better soon!

  22.  furiousBall Says:

Open Grove Claudia – cold here too, we finally got out first snow of the year this morning, not much, but woo!

Carolyn – yes, if you can bake a pie with ten grand in it, that would be great

Mary – that old lull them into a false sense of security maneuver eh? i like it

V-Grrrl – i actually love winter time and cold weather in general, but the holidays can be tough. i’m really happy the kids will be with me, but it will still be tough this year

heart in SF – no, not at all, i set a new land speed record putting that pie away.

  23.  Jocelyn Says:

Just keep getting out of bed, doing some things, and eating cherry pie. I just have this faith that it’s going to get better, in incremental steps. Nothing noticeable, until one day, in some months, you realize, “I do believe I’m okay.”

  24.  furiousBall Says:

Jocelyn – I got out of bed today too, I did some things, I don’t see any cherry pie handy though… I better get back into the fetal position

  25.  Di Says:

I came over to visit the ‘meatball’ post that supposedly inspired v-grrrl in her piece of wickedness …

Nice blog you have here Mr Furious. I need to read more to understand though …

  26.  furiousBall Says:

Di – danka and welcome. understanding usually involves therapy, good luck
