a bit of good news
Boy I made a really poor movie choice last night – Reign Over Me. This movie was great, but holy crap, a guy who is already sufficiently depressed and missing his children does not need to watch this. I might have cried a lot. Please don’t tell Jack Youngblood. But I did stack firewood in the snow this morning.
I went to the oral surgeon this morning to get my gauze changed and actually got some good news. The socket is closing and the jawbone is not exposed any more. It’s still sore, but definitely better. Afterwards, I stopped at the library and hurried home for a meeting with a new web design client… that didn’t show up. We rescheduled and I went out to the pet store to get some crickets for the lizard and then to reward myself for working my ass off this past week and toughing out the dry sockets, got me a copy of Leopard.
Holly stopped by to visit Mr. E and she even brought Yogi a bone (which is all that exists right now in Yogi’s world – there is nothing else… but… bone).
Tonight I’m going to drink beers and hopefully not watch the Flyers drop their 10th game in a row.

Glad you’re healing nicely.
“Reign Over Me” is most definitely not a pick me up movie although a few scenes were quite funny. I liked it a lot, especially Don Cheadle.
Enjoy your beers and the game

Go jawbone! Never bothered to see that movie. Sounds depressing. So instead, tonight i’m going to introduce my child to Being John Malkovich (sp?).

*pats Van sympathetically*
I like the theme very much, especially because of it’s obviously Spinal Tap approved.
Enjoy your game, beers, and evening. I’m blissfully listening to “Heretic Pride” on repeat, myself.

i’d be more effusive in my joy over your healing mouth if i weren’t busy figuring out how to one up you on the joy you’re obviously deriving from owning something new from the apple store. bastard.

i actually REALLY liked that movie. it is a tearjerker

Dianne – yeah, Don was good – stupid Flyers dropped their 10th in a row
meno – it was depressing, but good
Chris – right on, good tune
liv – the apple store is like the greatest thing ever since things were invented
gigglechick – my tears were definitely jerked
Slow Panic – you will be the envy of your yoga instructor i think

I was afraid you were going to say you ate the crickets, too.

Christy – nah, the legs get stuck in my sockets
February 24th, 2008 at 9:28 am
I think I’ll be skipping that movie. Don’t want to unearth the buried .
February 24th, 2008 at 10:18 am
Bud – yeah, I don’t blame you
February 24th, 2008 at 11:22 am
Glad to hear about jaw bone – eek! You have my full sympathies on anything dental [let alone the bill! = that always smacks of insult to injury]
Not familiar with the film, but I don’t like weepies in any case – a good whodunnit would get my vote, but maybe not if the kiddie winkies are around.
Best wishes

I wanted to see that movie too … I’m waiting for it to go On Demand.
The Flyers are depressing right now. That loss last night was heart-breaking, and I think we might see a coaching change in the near future.

I often wander around the local Apple retailers in Antwerp, often with some slight amazement how functional OS X really is.
I’m afraid I can’t reward myself: I’m on an XP machine
(or
considering that I do not intend to get the Hasta-la-VISTA nightmare on my next laptop.
Glad your jawbone is healing and yes, Reign over me is not an uplifting movie when you’re missing your children.
I just returned from an Antwerp leftbank riverside walk. When I entered the tunnel the MP3 player blasted “where do broken hearts go” (Whitney Houston) through the car stereo system – too much digital drama can be a real pain.

I haven’t been able to comment lately because after reading of your dental work, I’d fall to the floor and curl up in the foetal position to try and absorb the horrors of what could happen should I be foolish enough to open my mouth for a dentist.
I’m glad you’re healing, I’m back and typing now.

Hurray for health! I’m delighted to hear that you are healing in all ways – emotional release is good, closing socket is good, wood chopping is good. Let’s hope that all healing continues.

Maddy – it’s a great movie, kind of disappointing in parts and not consistent
losrulz – i just hope they don’t do a win now trade and go after Sundin
Peter – yeah, i will go screaming and kicking if I am forced to vistacize my laptop at work
Di – hehe, i’ll make it amiga
On a Limb with Claudia – well, i didn’t actually chop any wood, just stacked it, but it was totally manly, i swear

We had the same experience with this movie, went in absolutely thinking it would be funny and light.
February 24th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Good news on the jawbone for you and good news on the other bone for Yogi! yay! Go bones!

I hate it when Adam Sandler isn’t funny. I’m still super pissed about Punch Drunk Love.
February 25th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
amanda – yeah this movie definitely was not either one of those things, at all
Mary – twas a bonerific day
Franki – I actually liked Punch Drunk Love, I liked how unsettling it was
February 26th, 2008 at 7:57 am
Sorry for the sad movie, Van…(hug) I love Adam Sandler…he’s like my total favorite. I haven’t seen Punch Drunk Love, but now I’m thinking I won’t bother. His best is Happy Gilmore. That is one of my all time fave movies. Ever. SO glad that your poor mouth is feeling a bit better and healing!!! Awesome news!!
*doing a happy little ‘no more exposed jawbone’ dance* for you.

canarygirl – i liked punch drunk love, but it isn’t a happy feel good movie, it’s slow and serious and odd. what exactly does a ‘no more exposed jawbone’ dance look like?
