coconut heads!!!
We lost power for a while yesterday when the thunderstorms hit us. Kids like electricity and so do laptops. I was planning on spending Sunday working on my couch, watching the Phils, taking breaks to play with the kids here and there. Instead, I tried to make it fun by lighting candles and building a fort on the couch for them. That novelty wore off quickly.
We headed over to my Mother’s electrified house, had some dinner, played a bit and then headed back to our (hopefully electrified) home. I chuckled a bit to myself hearing the kids cheering that we had electricity as we saw the porch light on.
The kids and I made coconut heads last night. I got this idea from Magpie Musing. Bubs wanted his coconut head to have a mustache and a mohawk…
We read a bunch of new books at bedtime : First the Egg (great artwork and concept), A Good Day (Viv loves this one), Not a Stick (loved this one, her earlier book, Not a Box is great too), I’m the Biggest Thing in the Ocean, and Scaredy Squirrel at the Beach (kids love Scaredy Squirrel).
I’m confused with myself lately. I don’t know if it’s my back pain, not sleeping enough, or the unfortunate impending departure of my children, but my fuse has gotten shorter. I have been finding myself being bothered by stuff that normally does not phase me. I hate that they’re going. Hate it.
you don’t know just how much i miss you
yah my stomach aches in your absence
i don’t know what i’d do without you
cause i’d have no one to followyou are my love
i hold you above
everything and everyone

those coconut heads are a riot! love em.
and yeah i really was more about the big ragu, and i wouldn’t have been sending him off to a cold shower all the time.
as for the short fuse, i think it’s a combination of “all of the above.”
hugs, amigo.

Back pain, not sleeping enough, the impending departure of your children: not exactly issues to make anyone feeling on top of the world Van.
You do all manage to have fun though: coconut heads, way to go
By sheer coincidence parts of Antwerp, Belgium, also lost power when we were hit by violent thunderstorms. Losing power at my place mostly involves “breaking up the concrete floor”, but this time we were lucky.

The coconut heads are awesome! When I was little, my parents took me to Hawaii. I got a coconut head purse, and I still have it. I actually just gave it to my daughters and they thought it was hysterical.
That sucks that your kids have to leave soon. The combination of all the stress your under makes total sense for you to have a shorter fuse right now. I’m sorry. I wish there was something I could do to make it all good for you.

lime – you would have been so much better for Carmine than that strumpet Shriley
Peter – breaking up the concrete floor? holy crap!
Chris – yeah, after typing that paragraph, i kind of realized how stupid it all sounds now.

tori – thank you, part of me just wants those heads on a shelf a memory of a great summer and part of me doesn’t want to look at them, because it’s just going to hurt so damn bad

I’m sorry… I can only begin to imagine how difficult it would be to have only “part time” with my kids… I wish I had some magic to help, but all I can offer is some links to internet porn or sending you my 2 labs… they are so needy that you will pray for solitude.

I love the coconut heads, and electricity.
If I could, I’d send Oliver your way for a week or so to keep you company and run you ragged. He’s good that way.

Thank God for Ben Franklin! I can’t imagine what life must have been like before electricity. I guess that’s why people had such short life spans back in those days. They were bored to death.

Ah such happy photos kind of makes it all the tougher. I don’t suppose you’ve got them to record your answering machine message have you? [that may be a bad idea from the safety point of view though]
Best wishes

With as much as you’re going through, I think you’re allowed to be a bit short tempered. I caught Hoop yelling at the cake he made last night because it refused to come unstuck from the pan. I grabbed his hands and gently said, “Dude. I don’t think the cake can hear you.” You’ll get through this too, even if you don’t want to. ((HUG))
