CSI Medford Lakes and a pedicure
Yesterday was yet another example of how lucky I am to have such great friends. When I got done with my first physical therapy session for my back and neck, I stopped off at Mom’s and picked up Van and Viv. We came home and there at my doorstep was a little yellow bag filled with tomatoes, a cucumber, and home baked treats for the cats and Yogi. Also, leaning against the door was a zucchini. All this good stuff was from Rach (and her garden). She didn’t leave a note, but one of the Ziploc bags of cat treats was labeled “CAT TREATS” and Rach had written the name Cat Power (Rach and I saw them once) down for me once and once my expert handwriting analysis team (i.e. me) confirmed it, I knew it was Rach. Also when I called her, and she told me it was her gift, that cinched it too. That’s when I knew.
Later, Holly (Mr. E’s owner) stopped by with her lil’ baby boy, Caden to give Viv a pedicure. Boy, Viv loved her pampering. Right before bedtime, she also decided to read First the Egg and Not A Stick to Caden (he really seemed to like the attention from his new girlfriend).
The troubled words of a troubled mind I try to understand what is eating you
I try to stay awake but its 58 hours since that I last slept with you
What are we coming to?
I just don’t know anymoreBlame it on the black star
Blame it on the falling sky
Blame it on the satellite that beams me homeI get on the train and I just stand about now that I don’t think of you
I keep falling over I keep passing out when I see a face like you
What am I coming to?
I’m going to melt down
Blame it on the black star
Blame it on the falling sky
Blame it on the satellite that beams me home
Tonight, this is killing me
Tonight, this is killing me

One thing that I wanted to do in today’s post is apologize on behalf of Google Reader for impeding in my ability to read your posts. See, when I’m at work suffering with a 15″ monitor (I know… I know, how do I make it through the day? Exactly, I barely do), The Google Reader widget on iGoogle get cramped, behold Exhibit A over yonder. Notice how the refresh and mark all as read links are all cramalamadingdonged up together? Although, admittedly, sometimes I actually do want to “refreahk all as read”. As you would expect, I intend to hit refresh and yet, I lose all that reading. It goes down the Google shitter. So on behalf of Google (and without their knowledge nor consent), I apologize, from the bottom of Google’s cold, black heart.

Jazz – i’m amazed at how much love there is around me, honestly. Holly even remarked about how come I get cookies in the mail and people leave veggies from their garden at my door. i’ve got no answer for it, but i do love all of them crazy much.

The pedicure looks cool, I’ve never had one myself but Viv looks like she is enjoying herself. =o) I have some great zucchini recipes if you want some.

Christy – i just want to point out that to a single guy like me, “have some great zucchini recipes if you want some” sounds like a euphemism for something, in either event, yes

What great friends! Mmm…. zuke bread….
Hee hee – I just got a new monitor at work – 22″ widescreen LCD, set to 1680×1050. Bliss.

Chris – what do the Easter Bunny and a bachelor making Zuchini bread have in common? neither one exists. I have 20″ iMac therapy everyday when I get home.

Holly truly has all the hallmarks of a ‘giving’ personality, and she’s visibly not the only one who cares for you Van.
As for a 15″ monitor at work: I guess that in your line of work many still suffer from small sized, outdated monitors. I often contemplated upgrading my older 17″ LCD to a 22″ (they’re cheap these days), but I’m not sure where to leave the 5.1 sound system with such a wide screen.
I’m often having slow-update feed issues with Google reader (the regular URL, no widget) on this Windows machine, and it’s not the 15 Mbps fiber internet line that’s causing the problems

Peter – you’re 100% right, and you know what I appreciated most, Holly came up with this idea and all summer, she kept telling me she wanted to do this for Viv

OK, Holly is awesome, pedis are awesome, Holly giving your daughter a pedi?
The awesomeness meter breaks.
I’m sorry the google is sucking ass. I do mail, chatting, and various stuff through Yahoo and they are no better. I doubt that will make you feel better, but people are suffering all over the world, and I’m making do with a 16 incher here (heh heh, I feel certain there is a two 8-incher joke lurking in there somewhere, it’s not my fault, blame all the zucchini references).
Love the pics and may I just add, your investigative skills gave me chills, uncanny, man.

Friends like these are truly priceless. I once came home from the grocery store with my kids to find a beebe gun and a bottle of raccoon urine on my front porch. It brought a lump to my throat. Seriously…you and your kiddo’s are lucky indeed.
August 1st, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Gosh, what a fun night! Good for you for making all of that happen. I’m delighted that you have so many people who love you and the kids there in Medford. They seem really happy.

The ways that you suffer for your people – a 15″ monitor? Does that go with your Commodore computer?
