hair done did

Abbe gets a Viv make-over… including Viv putting pink lip-gloss into Abbe’s hair…

This will be an ongoing compendium, but I thought I would provide you with the first installment of the French-Canadian English to English translations… if you’re wondering where this comes from – I work with a couple of French Canadians and I’m just jealous that they can speak more than one language (and I can’t)… but far be it from me to not make fun of a couple mispronunciations…

ex-cheddar-a – this is not a cheese formerly known as cheddar it’s actually et cetera.
aria = not an operatic piece of music, it’s area
para meat er = upon first glance, this might appear to be spanish “for meat emergency rooms”, nay, oh nah…  parameter
turd = not poop, third
turdy = not poopy, thirty

Movie reviews…

Watchmen – it’s hard to not judge this film with the Alan Moore graphic novel in mind, or the fact that many felt it was an unfilmable story based solely on the density of the story in the novel – but this film worked for me even with out those contexts. The actors really captured the essence of the anti-comic book comic feel of the superheros they portrayed. The special effects are fantastic (as expected), I really appreciated them not going apeshit with the CGI. Only minor complaint I had was the shitty My Chemical Romance Dylan cover during the end credits, because they suck unimaginative balls.

    Pink lip gloss looks good in Abbe’s hair, Viv might be on to something.

  2.  lime Says:

    The question of the day is – does pink lip gloss wash out of hair?

    Are you sure these people aren’t from Brooklyn? Because this seems awfully familiar. Tell me, is it one, two, tree? One woman, two woman?

    I love how we french pronounce English. Funny how in Quebec they say T for TH and in France the say S..

    oooh i hope abbe knew to put the shampoo in her hair before water in this instance. water plus lipgloss equals melted lipgloss, and very hard to remove. tell abbe not to ever let vivie near any manic panic unless she wants some semi permanent rainbow hair. what a good sport she is! i’m so glad vivie’s having fun and abbe is willing to participate, good stuff!

    Oh lordy, your family thing is a beautiful thing … and I never say ‘oh lordy’ unless driven there by exposure to incredible cuteness. 3 of your posts in a row did it.

    I’ve always been partial to Mudder (mother), which I think is more Newfie than French-Canadian, but still. Mudder. It’s good.

    I love the Turtle Rape Shoe. I love the little squeaky sigh with every thrust. And I’ve never seen a turtle’s penis before.

    Christy – well, even if she wasn’t onto something, there’s no stopping Viv once she gets a notion

    lime – no argument here

    Chris – it does, Abbe checked this out very quickly after this shot (but she left plenty of the pink in)

    Finn – good point, i’ll check them for Bronx next time I see them

    Jazz – turd and turdy kill me every time

    dana – it came out with just water, it’s all good

    Di – on a totally unrelated note, i can’t wait to explain your photos that are hanging around my house to my party-goers this saturday

    mamatulip – ahhh yes, that one confused me too, which to me sounds NYC. that turtle is some kind of lover, which is how Jodi Watley got the lyrical inspiration for her song Some Kind of Lover… that’s right Jodi Watley totally has sex with turtles and boots

    We, the bilingual locals in Belgium often smile (ever so politely) when confronted with a native French-Canadian accent:
    their French sounds totally unlike the French spoken in Belgium/France.

    As for the English spoken by some native French-Canadians:
    wish you could hear my Dutch-English accent ;-)

    Remarkably, your girl looks hot with pink streaks. Maybe she should make them permanent.

    Hoop and I saw Watchmen. We liked it. I was really thankful they put a thong on the blue dude when he was giant-sized though. Phew.

    Grace is dying to see Watchmen. She’s about halfway through the book and was hoping to finish it before she saw the movie. She loves My Chemical Romance…

    I love kid makeovers! They always have some creative ideas. But I don’t think Abbe needs a makeover…she is already beautiful! She is awesome to let Viv experiment on her though.

    I love the Canadian English to English translations. Hopefully there will be more?

    Peter – hopefully one day, I’ll be visiting you and Di in Antwerp and I will hear it!

    Tink – i have a theory that his blue weiner turned an angry red when erect, but we’ll never know thanks to that thong

    Carolyn – i’ll have to make her learn to play Desolation Row – the DYLAN version!

    tori – aww, thanks and i do agree. i’m sure there will be more, i love the canucks.
