one of those people that make you feel insignificant and as if you’ve wasted your life, so screw her

The year of reconnection and strengthening bonds continues…

I have a lot of online friends, many of whom I’ve never met. Skampy and I have known each other for we think 12 years. Once every 6-8 months one of us will send an IM, tweet, email, random facebookery, etc. and catch up a bit. She has a cool job in social networking for NBC and does lots of cool shit like cook stuff and alien humping. She’s basically one of those people that make you feel insignificant and as if you’ve wasted your life… so you’re probably all better off not talking to her, so screw her. But in all seriousness, there’s something about a friend that has remained a friend throughout big life changes. Good to hear from ya, Skamp.

After getting the kids to bed, I received an email from my father-in-law (I refuse to call him an ex-father-in-law, I’m keeping him!) asking me to give him a ring. He had a couple of questions for me about connecting his laptop to his TV, but he also let me know about a film on Leonard Cohen I might want to check out – I’m Your Man. Sweet.

Links for my geeky homies…

I have a slew of friends who are so smart, funny, educated, and accomplished that you should never meet them either. Screw them. They just make us feel bad.

Jocelyn – exactly, you totally get it. I don’t need some “oh, i’m just making gourmet scones from scratch with my friends that wear ringer t-shirts and black jeans while i’m not at my awesome job” type folks… i don’t need anyone disrupting my perceived level of near mediocrity. in all seriousness, Skampy is great – i don’t think her blog is alive any more but definitely worth following on twitter (in case anyone gets too self-actualized)

I’ve seen the Leonard Cohen film–it’s awesome. I have the soundtrack.

Favorite performances: Rufus Wainwright doing Hallelujah, Teddy Thompson doing Tonight Will Be Fine, Antony doing If It Be Your Will.

And in other good news, I will never make you feel like you are wasting your life but rather that we are wasting our lives TOGETHER, on the same coast, a few hundred miles apart. Here’s to a whole lot of NUTHIN’!
