so much more than music
I was reminded yesterday morning while teaching guitar to one of my little superhero buddies – it’s amazing the things you learn while you teach. There is so much more than music that happens when a kid learns to play an instrument. I’m so proud that my daughter is now interested in learning guitar AND getting back at piano. Also, my son wants to get back to guitar lessons too. I don’t push playing music on either one of my kids, but I am very happy they want to learn. (photo below by Denise)

’tis a wonderful thing you are giving your kids and students. My kids are immersed in music. Like it or not, they know life no other way. Amelia started piano lessons (after 6 months of begging for them) recently and is really enjoying them. It is a very special time for us when we practice every week and she is so proud when she “gets” it. The most arduous part for her is doing the written part of her lessons (musical alphabet notes, etc.), and I need to remind her and myself (and her teacher) that she is just starting kindergarten. Luke still thinks he needs to choose between being a musician and being an athlete, lol! One of these days he’ll notice that mom is both. Peace, friend.
