grasshopper and a job well done Bubs!

Friday, July 29th, 2011

Woke up to find this guy hanging on our front door, wish the picture was a little better…

And a very proud Bubs came home with another portion of his shield and another year of Medford Lakes Camp completed…

Also, this almost made me tear up a bit… since Bubs spent the first week of camp in a cast, he helped the crafts folks and they gave him this award (notice that hand is singular – haha!)…

C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E-S-O-N-G Song

And a tradition just may have been born in our backyard last night…

Leah and Mya joined us for roasting some hot dogs, pasta salad, wine, and of course some s’mores. The only thing we forgot was to sing…

Hey stinkbug, I don’t think you asked got that orange sticker’s consent to do that…

Really excited about the growth of my business the past couple of weeks. I had a great meeting with Chris Sciolla another web developer/designer in the area to chat about working together on some projects. Chris is a CSS/HTML ninja and considering his UI skills combined  with my backend/database background I hope we can find some excuses to work together on some projects in the future.

I spent a little more from my iTunes gift card I received from Justin and Beth for my 40th and thought I’d share a couple other apps I’ve been playing… I stil have $4.74 left on the card, any suggestions?

  • Death Rally – yet another game that makes you say, “I can’t believe I’m playing a game this cool on a phone”. Great graphics, decent controls, addictive and fun.
  • Pictureka! – big thanks to Jan for suggesting this one. Lots of fun for kids and adults. The graphics and sounds are great.
  • Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor – quite possibly the best looking game for an iPhone. Viv loves this one.

cicadas and the mind of Yogi

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Yesterday was crazy… I blathered about it in yesterday morning’s post, so I’m not running through my to-done list again (it all got to-done). Abbe sent me an MMS of this little fella on a light post while I was driving home from EMS… cicada meet cicada husk… my assumption is the green guy used to be inside that shell, but the way things are in this world, the green guy might be trying to have sex with that cicada husk…

cicadaAnd I really like this picture…

Yogi and BubsThat’s Bubs and Yogi’s nightly ritual, after the kids and I read two books together in my bed, they go to their own beds to read for 20-30 minutes. Yogi (sometimes with his tennis ball as in this picture) climbs into bed and lays with my son. Sometimes Yogi stays there until Van Jr. is all the way asleep and sometimes he’ll hear me or Abbe get some ice cubes from the freezer and he comes running (can’t pass up an ice cube, I mean really…). I posted this on facebook last night and said this to a friend, if you ask my son about Yogi, he’d say that’s “his dog” and if Yogi could talk he would say that Bubs was “his boy”… Also, Yogi would also call Abbe, “his girlfriend” too.

Trogdorwina

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

I’m so proud of my little girl. Totally unprompted by myself, Vivienne wanted to thank Abbe for sewing a quick witch costume for her Halloween in July (for Summer camp). So Viv decided to give Abbe a painting she made and make a little card, which included a drawing of her and Abbe. Viv left this on Abbe’s sewing table for her before bed last night. I also love that Viv painted a badass dragon too… I think the dragon should be named Trogdorwina.
