my deceased Stewie pajamas

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Yesterday was very productive – lots of progress on Climate Skateboards (including a pretty cool CSS random background script from A List Apart), Sore Thumbs Store (added a snazzy new flash interface and updated the blog), lots of new additions to Sageth, and started on some minor post launch tweaks to ZeroPercentCards. I sent out a bunch of resumes, talked to the vendor consultants that work with my old employer TD Commerce, and did a couple of phone interviews (nothing that sounded too promising, but who knows).

Here’s some pictures Viv took with my iPhone while her Daddy was working on the couch a couple days ago…

And here are a couple pictures of Abbe’s first sewing project – she made a purse for her sister Emily… she made this from scraps (including my deceased Stewie pajamas). I’m trying to encourage her to put some of her stuff up for sale on Etsy

why food critics never describe a dish as ‘jizzerific’

Well, all those to-do list items that I to-didn’t the day before – they are to-done. In no particular order… vacuumed the house, blew off the porches and yard, fixed the required field issue with ShopCurtainRods.com, fixed the card detail DIV show/hide layer issue for zeropercentcards.com, updated documentation (took out the curse words – although I really think “schedule the fucking DTS package” has more zing to it) for my soon to be ex-job, taught a guitar lesson, dropped off a book at the library, dropped off Mom’s books (the library always gives me her stuff), ran 2 miles, did PT and OT (and got discharged from PT – woo!), got my mountain bike back from LarryMac (featuring a new more upright cruising position – better for my wrists), did dishes, went to a great dinner at Zinc Cafe (review below) with Mom and Abbe, and had beers with Larry Mac.

Zinc Cafe (no website for them yet, but here’s the location) took over the old location of Izzie’s. Zinc is such a nice addition to the restaurant selection in Medford. It’s BYOB, so Mom brought along a bottle of malbec. We started off with a fantastic appetizer, wasabi encrusted ahi with a side of seaweed salad. I had the black and white fettucini with roasted tomatoes and seared ocean scallops and it was jizzerific. I don’t use that term loosely, well not as often as I’d like. But yeah, amazing. Somehow, I think using the word jizzerific probably prevented this little paragraph from being printed out and posted on the wall at the eatery.

Somehow, this felt somewhat self-actualizing…

hear me roar, for i am scruffy – raar

I didn’t get my whole to-do list to-done. I was bummed. But, I did get to read The Ghosts in the Cellar to Viv. And that my friends, means all the world to me.

What I didn’t get done: fix the DIVs for zeropercentcards.com v2, fix the City error for shopcurtainrods.com, and record YouTube videos for Jan’s guitar lesson homework (and yes, I am supah scruffy). I think I should have titled the last one, Three Chords, One Dork.

cat with the 1000 yard stare

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

This has been a full weekend, but a good one. Friday I headed home a little early to get a jump on cleaning up the backyard for the upcoming visit from Van and Viv. I finished the backyard up Saturday, a gagillion tarps full of wet leaves later (I swore I got rid of all the leaves a month ago) and it was ready for some lil’ kid buffoonery (and perhaps a smidgen of chicanery as well). I let Yogi hop in my truck for a ride to the library and then to the post office to mail a bunch of 2000th post CDs. When I came out of the post office, a laughing woman was petting Yogi’s big orange head sticking out the back window and he was giving her head a bath. And that’s Yog for you in a nutshell – only one gear, love.

I fixed an issue with NitroVideo’s recent updates page and worked on a new project to index all the movies on the site via a Perl script. I fixed an issue with the Wheelies online store. I also worked on the ZeroPercentCards.com data feed upload tool.

I celebrated getting all that work done with a 3 mile run around both Medford and Freedom Parks. This was fun, new surroundings on a beautiful day was awesome.

Saturday night I headed over to my friend Rachel’s and hung out with some really great folks. Her new beau, Rich was there, Adam and Sue from Vermont (Adam is the long lost twin of my old bass player Jimmy and I knew he was cool when I noticed him singing along to Polar Opposites), Joann and her son, and the very beautiful Alicia … and her date arrived later.

Today, I went to the VA home with my folks and we brought my grandfather to lunch. My Aunt Cis, cousin Justin, and his girlfriend Isabel met us there as well. I got home and let Mr. E enjoy the great outdoors while I stacked some firewood. Here is the tiger in action…

And then the tiger tried to let himself back out…

“Let me tell you something Ziggy…the thousand-yard stare, a grunt gets it when he’s been in the shit too long, and it’s like you’re really seeing beyond.”

everything you wanted to learn about butt sex… oh wait, you didn’t want to know

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

Just finished watching the Flyers mop up the Isles 4-1 (great job by Riley Cote kicking Rob Davison’s ass) while fixing the Wheelies OSC store and some more Perl – GD library fun for NitroVideo. I’m still recovering from going hogwild last night.

It all started with happy hour with my two bestest co-worker buddies Bill and Christine. We drank like vikings and learned some interesting preparation tips about anal sex from a fellow happy hour attendee.

This is pertinent in the Philly area, since cheesesteaks are apparently more common than I imagined. This happy hour butt sexpert pointed out that to not eat a cheesesteak prior to butt sex.

I headed home, read some stories to the kids, fed the animals, then went on a 4 mile run through the dark woods. I came home, showered and got a text from a friend that wanted to drink. The Irish can drink, seriously. I brought over Once and we both really enjoyed it. Glen Hansard’s voice is crazy good. And Marketa Irglova’s voice during If You Want Me… jeebus, you will cry… Seriously. Big girl tears. I headed home at around 5am.wait, what kind of balloon animal is this supposed to be

For some reason I woke up at 10am, finished watching Waiting (which sucked balls), went to the library, sent some movies to the kids at the post office, and then picked up food at the grocery store.

Holly stopped by and I made us some sammiches (got to feed pregnant ladies). Holly headed home, I turned on the Flyers game and worked for a few hours.

I’m going to have some drinks with some new buddies in Medford Lakes tonight at Ott’s. Tomorrow though, I’m sleeping in and not doing crap. Probably. I can’t believe the Eagles signed Asante Samuel. Woo!
