where we try to eat all of the oysters in Cape May…

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Well, yesterday was a bad day for Philly sports – the Eagles and Phils lost, but we got to spend a day with Big Tom, Aunt Cis, and my mom down at Cape May. And yes, we got to get some seriously great grub at the Lobster House. After filling our bellies and stopping for Tom to do a little shopping, we stopped in at Penza’s Pies in Hammonton on the way home.

That night, we had our first fire of the season and Tom and Mom came over to watch Breaking Bad with us. Abbe and I have been waiting 2 years to watch Breaking Bad with our big buddy from New Mexico, when he introduced the show to us during our visit out in Las Cruces and Cloudcroft.

Tonight, we are having dinner at Mom’s with more great friends, the Oates and tomorrow night we’re heading to see The Gourds, one of Tom’s favorite bands.

ice cream and ladybugs

Monday, September 5th, 2011

икониI got a lot of chores done around the house yesterday and with Abbe getting home from work early, we jumped on the opportunity to get in a quick run. We picked up the kids and took them to an early dinner at PJ’s and then ice cream at the Sand Stand.

After getting the kids to bed, Abbe and I saw what might have been my favorite episode of Breaking Bad last night. As a rule, the more Gus (or Saul or Mike or the cousins before they died) is in the episode, the better.

OK, last couple days of summer, let’s do this…

Books We’ve Been Reading…

Actual Size – this book is cool, but very long for a bedtime story
Don’t Slam the Door! – kids were so-so on this one, it’s OK
Lunch Lady and the Summer Camp Shakedown – Viv is really into this one and I can see me getting more books from this series
Mr. President Goes to School – kids liked this one a lot, kind of sweet
Sophie Peterman Tells the Truth! – kids liked this one, would be a good bedtime reader for an expectant big brother or sister
Ugly Pie – kids liked this one, they like lots of gross stuff.

batting practice, fancy phone, and my friend, the TV star

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

At the end of the day yesterday, Abbe and I took the kids down to Hopkins Field to hit some baseballs and softballs. Everybody took a turn and we were all a very tired, sweaty, happy mess at the end of an hour and a half of hittin’. Check out her stance…

Here’s Abbe using her very high tech replacement phone while her Blackberry is sent away for repairs…

And wow, I would be completely remiss to not mention my friend Natalie Stone’s appearance last night on Rocco’s Dinner Party! Nat brought so much character to that show it was crazy. She also ended up in second place, although all of the dinner guests really seemed to enjoy her dishes. And if you would like to try some of her amazing Bella’s Biscotti, be sure to visit her Facebook Page or you can also find them at the Carriage Trade Cheese Shoppe. Also, if you watched the show, be sure to comment on Bravo’s blog and read this review too!

Movie Review…

I Love You Phillip Morris - I can safely say this is the best dark gay romantic con-man comedy I’ve ever seen and it’s honestly not a bad flick. Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor are both great. The script is interesting because in the place of plot twists, it changes genres. I think many non-Indie film fans will be bored with this movie (especially if you rented/bought a ticket to see Jim Carrey a lá Mask).

C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E-S-O-N-G Song

And a tradition just may have been born in our backyard last night…

Leah and Mya joined us for roasting some hot dogs, pasta salad, wine, and of course some s’mores. The only thing we forgot was to sing…
