Mohawked!

Monday, December 5th, 2011

The turn-out was great for our Beef N’ Beer last night. We raised a bunch of money towards our goal. Raffle prizes were won and yes, without further adieu…. I got a mohawk…

A big thank you to Leah Allen for keeping all those head shavers between the lines and a huge thank you to the organizations and individuals that were kind enough to donate raffle prizes!

Tonight, Abbe and I will be heading to Reading, PA for our next fundraiser, Dinner at The Works. If we get 30 people to show up this evening we receive 10% of the entire dining room bill as a donation, otherwise – we get zilch! So this is a big night for us, we think this could very well be our largest fundraiser in terms of dollars raised! That said, the homestretch is looking like it will be very tough. We have until December 19th to reach $11,000 and we are currently sitting at $7506 (the Beef N’ Beer should put us over $8000).

If you would care to donate to LLS and help us in our fight against blood cancers, please do so. If you are unable to give, please consider simply sharing or retweeting this post so others may do so.

enjoy it today

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

I need to brag about my girls a little bit today. There is a lot of talent around me – I’d be a fool to not notice all of this. First off, here is Vivienne’s latest from her art class… (it’s a bird and some pinecones – the iPhone picture doesn’t do it justice)

And here are the junior bridesmaids dresses Abbe recently completed…

Yesterday was a busy day, but a better one than the day before. Abbe and I got in a very hot run and I got a lot of coding completed. Wow, the weather is amazing this morning – must make sure to enjoy it today, you do the same if it’s nice wherever you are.

the zen of rain soccer

Friday, April 29th, 2011

One thing I’ve been meaning to write about since our visit to Abbe’s family was the game of soccer we played in the rain on Easter Sunday. Abbe, Bubs, and a few of her relatives started by just taking shots on Abbe in “goal” (which consisted of a couple of leland pines) and it quickly grew into a somewhat competitive game. I joined in along with any one else that was brave enough. And then the sky opened up on us and we kept playing. Bubs was laughing his head off constantly. I took a moment in between the action to think about how great Abbe’s family has been to my children. We were soaked, sweaty, muddy, and sore afterwards – but that ruled.

Movie Review…

Tron: Legacy – this movie actually surprised me, not really that shitty. Visually, it’s cool. Acting, well c’mon… did you see the first one?

Good Run and a Great Job on the Project, Bubs!

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Abbe and I had a great long run yesterday through the woods. It was 11 miles, which consisted of running to Camp Ocky, running 3 loops around the 5K trail, and running home. Best part of the run was that we both came home with zero injuries and we ran well too. Here’s some pictures…

After our run, I talk a guitar lesson and then Van and Viv came home. Bubs and I got to work on finishing his journeys project due this Tuesday. Bubs got to pick any destination in the world and he chose Quebec City. Apparently the tales of my visit a few years ago with beard freezing and snow higher than my head didn’t scare him off at all. He is a lot like me – we like cold weather.

Make Overs and Photos from the Mud Run

Sunday, September 12th, 2010

I’ve mentioned how much I love how great Abbe is with my kids. Last night, Viv and Abbe gave each other make-overs and then Abbe let Viv decorate her jeans (and arm) with markers. The results were actually really, really cool (and Viv loved it too)…

As promised the pictures from the McQuire 10K Mud Run… many thanks to Tracy and Nuria for taking pictures!
